Saturday 28th April 2018
Lady Mabel Hall, Ecclesfield School, Sheffield

We are delighted to announce that Concord Youth Music will launch a new Indoor Music Games event onto the UK circuit in 2018.

To be held in Sheffield on Saturday 28th April 2018, IMG South Yorkshire will feature categories for Music and Movement (to cater for groups that combine their music with co-ordinated movement); Percussion Freestyle (for percussion groups of all kinds – static or mobile); Music Ensemble (for groups that do not move during their performance). In all categories there will be an award for the best Junior group (where all members are under 18).

The event will run from 1.00 pm to 6.00 pm and is open to spectators. There are 350 seats in ramped seating offering an excellent view of performances. Light refreshments will be available throughout the event. The performance area consists of a large stage and floor area. Competing groups may use either or both for their performances.

Indoor Music Games are all about achieving the best combination of both excellence and spectator enjoyment. IMG competitions are open to all, with no membership requirements or registrations, no age limits and no pre-set standards or qualifications. IMG entrants can be Performance Ensembles, Brass Bands, Marching Bands, School Bands, Orchestras or any other music ensembles.

• There are no age limits – each event will make special awards to youth groups.
• There are no entry or registration fees.
• There are no restrictions on types of instrumentation – all acoustic and electronic combinations are welcome.
• IMG teams consist of 5 or more members.
• Shows will be a minimum of 5 minutes with a focus on entertainment. Each unit has a maximum of 12 minutes to set up, perform and exit the arena.
• The performance area for this event consists of a stage (8.4 metres wide x 6.2 metres deep) and a floor area (13.4 metres wide x 7.5 metres deep) immediately in front of the stage – steps from floor up to stage. Please see the attached plan. Groups may use either area or both if they wish.
• The judges will provide a feedback commentary. Although musical quality and accuracy is important, the IMG focus is on audience engagement and showmanship.

There are three categories that groups may enter :

Suitable for groups that combine their music performance with co-ordinated movement (e.g. marching, dance, choreography).
Groups will be assessed by three judges , based on :
• Music Performance
• Movement Performance
• Overall Impression
• Groups that have members who are all aged under 18 on 1st January 2018 will compete for an additional award for the Best Junior Group. This runs in parallel to the main competition, with the same score levels.

This is for percussion only groups, both static ensembles and those that move. Any combination of percussion instruments will be allowed.
Judging will be by three judges, based as above. There will be a Best Junior Group award.

Suitable for groups who do not move during their performance. This is a non-scoring category in which groups are assessed into broad achievement categories (medals) by two accredited judges.
Medals will be awarded at : Gold, Silver and Bronze levels. There will be a Best Junior Group award.

Organisations may enter more than one category (separate entry form for each category please).
